MVAS issues 840 spay/neuter certificates annually(480 for cats and 360 for dogs) though our Low-Income Assistance Program. As an important part of MVAS’ Mission and to help us retain the status of a no-kill Shelter, we must continue to provide this assistance. Grants for Spay/neuter programs are becoming harder and harder to find. To maintain this program we are asking for community help to offset the cost of this program.
In 2023, MVAS paid a total of $93,037 for vet fees for this program. We received one $3,000 grant to help us offset this cost. This will continue to drain resources and we must receive a steady stream of funding to help sustain this program.
$5,500 - covers the cost of spay/neuter of 50 dogs and cats!
$2,500 - covers the cost of spay/neuter of 23 dogs and cats!
$1,100 - covers the cost of spay/neuter of 10 dogs and cats!
$550 - covers the cost of spay/neuter of 5 dogs and cats!
$110 - covers the cost of spay/neuter of 1 dog or cat!
